Week of January 6th

We are looking forward to welcoming back our students tomorrow.  Tomorrow is the first day of 2nd semester, therefore some of your students Exploratory classes may change.   Students can see their classes for semester two by looking at Powerschool on their Chromebook.

Our basketball teams will host Gilbert Thursday night beginning at 5:30 pm.

There are two upcoming events that I want to make you aware of (flyers for each of these events is attached to this email):

  • January 28th – LMS Technology Awareness Night – 6:00 – 8:00 pm
    • There will be a two-fold purpose for this night.  Mr. James Deal from the State Department of Education will present on supporting kids in the digital age.  With Social Media playing such an impactful role in our children’s lives, Mr. Deal brings a unique perspective on how to help children to make good decisions within their online platforms.  The second part of the night will showcase LMS students and their effective use of technology in our school. This will be an incredibly informative and insightful night for any middle school parent.
  • January 13th or 14th  – 8th Grade Students Only – RBHS Course Fair/Course Selection Night – 5:30 – 7:00 pm
    • River Bluff will host a course fair to allow students/parents to explore and ask questions about high school courses.  This will be followed by a Course Selection Meeting where 8th Grade students will select their 9th grade courses. We are strongly encouraging all LMS 8th graders and parents to attend ONE of the two nights.

Let’s have a great week!

Week of December 15th

We wrap up the fall semester this week before having Winter Break for two weeks.  After this week, we will see our students back at LMS on Tuesday, January 7th.  One note regarding the schedule this week is that Friday is an early release day with students being dismissed at 12:40 pm.  On Monday night, we are looking forward to the Winter Chorus performance here at LMS in the Theatre.  Just so you are aware, we will be conducting three different drills (Earthquake, Tornado, and Fire) on Wednesday morning.  That’s all from me today, I hope you and your family have a restful break and get to enjoy some quality family time together.  Happy Holidays!

Week of December 8th

We are looking forward to a big week here at LMS.  First of all, thank you and congratulations to our students and teachers who played a role in the musical theatre production of Fame Jr.  It was a tremendous showcase of the talent and hard work of our LMS musical theatre program. This coming week we are looking forward to the LMS Winter Band Concert on Tuesday night here at LMS beginning at 6:00 pm.  On Thursday night, the LMS Orchestra will have its winter concert at River Bluff High School at 6:00 pm. Our basketball teams will host home games this week on Monday and Thursday with the girls games beginning each night at 5:30 pm.  That’s all for now, let’s have a great week.

Pulsera Project

Next week, the week of December 9-13, LMS will host a “Pulsera” or bracelet sale during all 3 lunches.  The Pulsera Project is a service project and in Spanish classes students have been busy learning about Nicaragua (where the project is based) and preparing for this culminating portion of the project.  If you get a moment and haven’t checked out this video that explains the project – it’s worth checking out!  Please ask students questions about what they’ve learned, the purpose of the project and even what type of ‘pulsera’ they like the best.
Also, please stop by the cafeteria one day next week to check out the handmade bracelets ($5) and purses ($15)! They make excellent stocking stuffers! Please see the attached images of examples of these beautiful bracelets!
We want to thank you all for the excitement that you’ve shared for this project! Get ready to color the school with Pulseras!

Still Holiday Shopping?

Stop by the front office and check out our $5.00 table! We have t-shirts (long & short sleeves) and hoodies for sale from the past couple of years!
We also have our newest dri fit shirt and hoodies!

Week of December 1st

I hope you and your family have enjoyed the time away from school during this holiday break.  We look forward to welcoming our students back tomorrow morning.  We have a very busy few weeks ahead before winter break arrives.

  • Chick fil a biscuits will be on sale this Thursday morning before school.
  •  We begin the winter sports season this week with the LMS basketball teams hosting Meadow Glen tomorrow night beginning with the girls game at 5:30 pm.  A couple of quick notes in regards to basketball games.  If you child is coming to the game as a fan they can not stay after school and wait for the game to begin.  Staff will be scattered throughout the building after school and we can’t ensure supervision.  Also, as a general rule, middle school basketball games last less than an hour and therefore our home games are finished by 7:30.  Therefore, if students are there for a game, they should have a ride arriving by 7:30.   Thanks for your help with this during basketball season.
  •  I am super excited about next weekend and the 7th & 8th grade Musical Theatre productions of Fame Jr. right here in the LMS Theatre.  7th grade performances will be Friday night at 5:30 and 7:30, with 8th grade performances Saturday afternoon at 3:00 and 5:00.  Tickets are on sale now on the LMS website.

I apologize for the long message, let’s have a great week!
