Dr. Little has a message for LMS parents

Wednesday, September 19, 2018

Dear Parents:

Last night, during the September 18, 2018 meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board named Gloria B. Nester principal of the district’s newest middle school under construction at 1340 Highway 378 in Lexington. This move is effective January 4, 2019.

This afternoon, I met with the LMS staff and talked with them about this opportunity for Mrs. Nester. I wanted to make sure I reached out to you, too.

I believe that Mrs. Nester brings a high level of experience and enthusiasm that we will need as we plan and open this new middle school for opening next year.

Although I know that this is a surprise, please know that we are immediately posting the open LMS principal position and hope to name a new principal in November.

I know that Lexington Middle School is important to you and your child. It is also important to us.

As an International Baccalaureate school with high expectations, we know that we must find the right fit and the right person to serve as your child’s new principal.

Over the next few weeks, we will survey staff, hold focus groups with a group of parents, support staff, teachers and administrators and use that feedback to identify a new principal that meets the needs of your school and your community.

As soon as we make that decision, we will let you know and will schedule a drop-in/meet the principal opportunity.

Thank you for everything you do to support Lexington Middle School and your students.

Sincerely,

Dr. Greg Little, Superintendent
