This is Ryan Pool, principal at Lexington Middle School.  It’s been a short but great week at LMS.

This is a reminder that tomorrow, Friday the 12th and Monday, Feb. 15, are student holidays.  We hope you enjoy some rest and time with family.

Good luck to our Polar Plunge team as they brave the cold of Lake Murray on Saturday in order to raise money and awareness for the LMS Project Unify team.  Our students who compete and help with the Special Olympics are winners every day at LMS.  It’s not too late to support the cause.  Check our website to make a donation!  We’ll share some pictures after the chilly event.

Congratulations to our talented LMS performers.  Our students made us proud this past weekend at the South Carolina Speech and Theater Association State Festival. All of our students did a fantastic job.  Cameron Eubanks placed third in monologues and Tucker Privette placed third in original monologues, placing them among the top 3 in the state in their categories.

Great job to all of our kids, and Happy Valentines Day from all of the LMS Faculty!

This week at LMS

It’s been another busy but awesome week at LMS.

Thanks to our awesome guidance office for a great week.  It was counselor appreciation week, and they stayed busy.  We hosted 116 parents for bring your parent to lunch day, while our 7th and 8th graders enjoyed a live or virtual job shadowing experience.  We will continue to talk to all of our students about college and career readiness.

We want to wish good luck to our LMS Robotics Team as they compete this weekend in the state competition.  We are so proud of your hard work!

Congratulations to the LMS archery team for placing third in regional competition.  We will find out soon if they will be moving on to the state tournament.

We also want to congratulate our boys and girls basketball teams as they close out their seasons.  They both advanced last night with big playoff wins.  Good luck to these hardworking wildcats on Saturday.  Way to go!

The end of basketball season is also the end of our cheerleading season.  We want to give a special thanks for all of the hard work and spirit they have given to our school.  For our 8th grade cheerleaders, thanks for a great year and for bringing the state championship home to LMS.

In February, we celebrate black history month and recognize the positive impact that diversity brings to our campus.  We are proud that LMS is made up of all kinds of kids who are amazing in countless ways.

Congratulations to 8th grader Laney Quickel who is the new Miss Jr. Teen South Carolina for 2016!  We are so proud that you will be representing our state.

We hope you have a great, dry weekend.  Thanks for all you do to make our school great everyday!

Whether Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow or not on February 2nd, Groundhog Day, many students will be “shadowing” workers in order to better understand the requirements of a particular job or career. This year our 6th grade students will have the opportunity to invite a parent or relative to eat lunch with them. After lunch the student and parent or relative will have a time to sit down and talk about the adult’s career. By participating in this activity, your child will have the opportunity to earn a 100 ELA formative grade.
