Important Grade Information

Good evening Wildcat Families!
I can’t believe we are almost through 1st semester! Here is some important grade reporting information:

As you are aware, we are not issuing individual interim reports this year at LMS. Though we have valued this process in the past, we are committed to providing even more timely and detailed feedback on your child’s academic progress by encouraging parents to use PowerSchool to gain immediate access to their child’s academic progress.

As a reminder, you can view your child’s grades and attendance by using a personal computer or downloading the PowerSchool App to your mobile device.  You can even modify the settings to have grades emailed to you daily if you choose.  If you have not picked up your PowerSchool login information from the school, need technical assistance with logging into PowerSchool, or have limited access to the Internet and prefer a paper copy of your child’s interim, please contact Laura McCombs at 803-821-3700 or lmccombs@ You can also see your child’s grades by asking your child to show them to you using his/her iPad.  Students have the PowerSchool App on their iPads and regularly are provided the opportunity view their own grades and attendance.

You may also want to checkout our newly redesigned website at You’ll find lots of great information about what’s happening at LMS there!

Speaking of what’s happening at LMS this week, be sure to ask your students about the way we are giving back this week through the Pulsera Project and our Thankful Tom student council project. It’s another great week to be a Wildcat!

I hope your child is enjoying the 2016-2017 school year so far.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 803-821-3700 or gnester@

Here is some information to help you as you review and discuss your child’s progress with him/her, reflect on learning, and set goals for 2nd nine weeks:

  • The grades on the report card reflect the new SC Uniform Grading Scale.
  • RTI ELA and Math courses use a 1 or 2 rating system.
  • World Language scores are based on the proficiency level students are consistently demonstrating on performance tasks. (You can learn more about WL Grading by visiting the newly updated World Language Interim and Grading Letter webpage.)
  • IB grades in Design, Arts, and PE are based on the IB assessment criteria and range from 1-8.
  • For more information on scoring, read this letter from earlier this fall or visit the LMS website.
  • We are gearing up for our fall Box Tops Collection on November 3rd and 4th. Box Top Flyer

Hello Wildcats!

We have some great things going on this week.  This week is Spirit Week and we kick it off with America Monday, when Wildcats dress in patriotic colors to show their patriotism and spirit. We’ll be celebrating all week – be sure to join in the fun!

On Tuesday, we have Twins Tuesday-pick a person and dress alike.

On Wednesday, we have Swap Wednesday.  Students dress like teachers and teachers dress like students.

On Thursday, we have Throwback to your favorite decade Thursday.

On Friday, we have Spirit Day and Hat Day.  6th grade wears white, 7th grade wears gold, and 8th grade wears blue. Students will also be able to wear a hat if they pay $1.  Students will give their 2nd period teacher their $1 and get a sticker to wear verifying their contribution.  All money goes to Relay for Life.

On Thursday, we will also have Chick-Fil-A biscuits for sale in the morning for $3.  Proceeds benefit Musical Theatre.  Our PTO fundraiser is going well.  Our PTO plugs the proceeds right back into our school, so your hard work selling benefits LMS directly.

The French Exchange is looking for one male student in grades 7-10 to travel to France with the group from April 6-19. Taking French is not required.  Email Mrs. Hanle for more details at

We’ll see you tomorrow to kick off a great week!
